Episode: 13 - Safe Haven

post-image

It’s official folks, Season 2 of the Stream Team Podcast is now in full effect. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the J-Crew is bringing you all of the geeky movie and TV news you’ve come to expect, along with what just might be a genuinely decent—Chick Flick?

This week in Press Rewind, Jamel talks up Christopher Miller and Phil Lord’s newest film, The Lego Movie. Followed by a recap of the latest episode from Community and Brooklyn Nine-Nine by Joe. The boys wrap up the segment with Jamel who’s really excited about Season one of Arrow (Now streaming on Netflix!).

Hot This Week, is all about the official and unofficial photos of The CW’s Flash in full costume and our thoughts on The CW’s pilot for an announced show based on the DC character (A lot of anger flowing in this segment guys, sorry in advance…).

Finally, it’s time to lace up our gloves, get our heart rate up and dive, fists first into this week’s Main Event. A romantic drama based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, Safe Haven.

Breaking up is a difficult task for anyone, but breaking up while using nothing but movie titles as a language for the conversation? Far more difficult, but also more entertaining…

Episode: 12 - Man of Tai Chi

post-image

Don’t turn around, Stream Team Podcast episode 12 is in town. This week the J-Crew, rallies to bring the podcast’s faithful listeners the best show yet! For Press Rewind we’re going back to jolly old England, for some more Downton Abbey and a pint of The World’s End, followed by a visit from Chris Carter and his new show The After. Joe laughs it up with Enlisted on Hulu, then he was cruisin’ for a bruisin’, so thankfully Teen Beach Movie was there to answer the call.

Hot This Week was fantastic, Josh Trank’s The Fantastic Four that is… (yeah, just let that one set there for a sec) Our heroes talk casting, rumors and the future of Marvel based movies. Then it’s game-on as Jamel deploys a follow up debriefing on Titanfall.

Finally it’s time for The Main Event, this week’s matchup—Stream Team Podcast versus Keanu Reeves’ Man of Tai Chi. You’re gonna have to tune in for this one, as the outcome might just surprise you!

Ñ The Green Goblin Looks Like A Real Sh#!head

My interest in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has gone up and down since its inception. Currently, I’m at a low point with the film. Obviously I’m going to see it, but it’s not something I’m looking forward to with much enthusiasm.

But this detailed look (courtesy of EW) at Dahannis Dahann’s Green Goblin does raise my eyebrows a bit, if only because he looks like a despicable monster who really needs a knuckle sandwich. There’s just something awful about that face. He looks like a mixture of That Yellow Bastard and a Gremlin. I like it.

Episode: 11 - Only God Forgives

post-image

We’re baaaaack! Stream Team Podcast Episode XI is in full effect for 2014 and folks, we brought a doozy of a show for you. The J-Crew gets the new year started right, with some fairly lengthy discussions about That 70’s Show, Robot & Frank, Being Human and Ender’s Game. Once again the duo takes a brief trip to video game land, where Jamel gives us a breakdown of the Titanfall Beta.

Finally, for The Main Event our heroes try way too hard to understand Nicolas Winding Refn’s most recent film Only God Forgives starring Ryan Gosling and Kristin Scott Thomas. How many movies does it take to deconstruct a Refn film? Joe knows…

Nicolas Cage drops the crazy act for Joe

An ex-con, who is the unlikeliest of role models, meets a 15-year-old boy and is faced with the choice of redemption or ruin.

Looks good, great to see Cage getting back to dramas, also, that beard is bad—epic bad, but in the best possible way! — JS

Kung Fury perfectly combines some of our favorite elements of ’80s sci-fi with ’70s exploitation. The tale revolves around the titular Kung Fury, a no-holds-barred Miami cop with a kung-fu grip.

After his partner is killed by an elderly Adolf Hitler, Kung travels back in time to kill the Fuhrer (of course).
